Sandra Nunez – FSS/RSC Program Manager

Sandra Nunez joined the Housing Authority City of Yuma (HACY) June 1995.  Under the direction of the Executive Director, Sandra Nunez is responsible for managing, supervising, and administering all Family Self-Sufficiency and Homeownership programs for HACY.  Additionally, Mrs. Nunez serves as the Family Self-Sufficiency Advisory Board liaison.

Prior to joining the Housing Authority City of Yuma, Mrs. Nunez was a loan officer for Wells Fargo as a CRA specialist for one year.  Prior to banking, Mrs. Nunez worked for Housing America Corporation as a Group Coordinator.  In this capacity Mrs. Nunez was responsible to prepare loans financed by USDA and coordinate construction plans for more than 500 homes built through the Self Help method.     

Mrs. Nunez received a Master of Education in Counseling with an emphasis in Human Relations from Northern Arizona University.  She was honored for having outstanding academic achievement.  She graduated, with honors, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in criminology with a second major in Spanish from NAU.

Mrs. Nunez is a Certified Public Housing Manager (CPHM) as designated by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, is a licensed Real Estate Agent in the state of Arizona, is a certified housing counselor by the Neighborhood Reinvestment Training Institute, is a graduate of the City of Yuma’s Leadership Academy, received a Certificate of Excellence from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for pioneering HUD’s Section 8 Homeownership Program.  In 2008, she received an Most Valuable Partner (MVP) Award from HUD for providing the most homeownership opportunities to low-income buyers while enlisting numerous collaborators.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Yuma Neighborhood Development Organization and has worked with the CASA program assisting children in the foster care system.   She also served on the CASA board for almost two years.

Mrs. Nunez enjoys spending time with her daughter Kenya and son Juan.  The family enjoys activities such as, ATV riding, trips to El Golfo, and all outdoor sports.
