HACY's commitment toward expansion of support housing for individuals who meet defined criteria of eligible and who are diagnosed with a serious mental illness. The goal of this initiative is to promote and sustain consumer recovery by providing decent, safe and affordable housing opportunities. HACY currently administers three homes under this subsidy.

This program is a Section 8 project based program providing a voucher purposely for families with mental illness needs requiring referrals from Cenpatico Housing Administrator.

Program Criteria

  • Homeless, residing in a residential treatment setting, substandard living environment or a Board and Care/boarding home;
  • At least one adult member with a serious mental illness (SMI) diagnosed through a contracted Behavioral Health Provider with Cenpatico;
  • Enrolled with a Behavioral Health Provider contracted with Centpatico;
  • Must be Title XIX according to AHCCCS Standards
  • No Drugs or Felony convictions during the last 3 years
  • Meet extremely low income limits
  • Zero Debt owed to any Public Housing Agency

Maintaining Your Rent Assistance

Section 8 Case Management

  • Report any changes to the Housing Authority of the City of Yuma within 10 days
  • Household member additions or removals need prior approval from the housing authority
  • Attend all Annual Re-exams & provide caseworker with all needed documentation
  • Be available for annual inspection
  • Inspection notices mailed out the same month as initials inspection
  • Maintain contact with behavioral health provider caseworker at least 2 times a months

Property Case Management

  • Household member additions or removals need prior approval
  • Keep landlord informed and report needed repairs as soon as possible
  • Keep landlord and housing authority informed of temporary absence that will result in being or potentially being more than 30 days out of the unit
